About us
Aaqib. Artist & Designer
I make work that remembers — architecture translated into objects and prints that carry the weight of heritage.
Archist Atelier is a Leicester-based art and design studio specialising in multi-layered architectural and Islamic geometric work. Every piece begins with a deep engagement with built heritage — its proportions, its geometry, its cultural memory — and ends as something you can live with.
The Practice
Archist Atelier began with a single question: what does architecture feel like when it becomes an object? Not a photograph of a building, not a plan, but something that holds the same geometric intelligence — the same sense of order and depth — in the palm of your hand or on the wall of a room.
My practice sits at the intersection of Islamic geometric tradition and contemporary design. The vocabulary I draw from is ancient — interlocking forms, recursive pattern, the play of light across layered surfaces — but the work itself is firmly rooted in the present.
Over the years that practice has taken many forms: public light installations at Lumière Durham and Leicester Light Festival, private commissions for collectors in Qatar, the United States, France, and Switzerland, a Saatchi Art commission for the Silver Nova cruise ship, and a solo exhibition — Arabesque — at LCB Depot Leicester in 2023.
"Each piece is a study in permanence — the attempt to make something that carries time rather than merely marks it."
Archist Atelier is not a large studio. It is one maker, one practice, one clear point of view. Every commission is handled personally, from the first conversation to the final installation.
If you are considering a commission — whether for a private home, a public space, a corporate interior, or a gift of genuine significance — I would be glad to hear from you.
